Accessory Dwelling Units are encouraged within the City of Leavenworth, especially for local workforce housing and extended/elderly housing. An accessory dwelling unit (ADU) is a second dwelling on the same parcel of land as a single-family dwelling. ADUs can be within, attached or detached from a single-family dwelling. All ADUs require a building permit.
To encourage ADUs, the City has partnered with Syndicate Smith to develop these pre-approved ADU construction plans. Each of the plans is designed to be less than 900 square feet (SF) which permits the use of the existing water/sewer connections, when possible. Larger ADU development, up to 1200 SF is permitted but there are not pre-approved construction plans available.
These designs are part of the City of Leavenworth’s pre-approved Plans for Accessory Dwelling Units. If you are interested in licensing a plan, please visit the City’s ADU webpage first to read through the information and understand the requirements.
